Major drug bust on Limpopo farm

Polokwane – Two people allegedly involved in the manufacturing of illegal drugs were arrested at a farm outside Marblehall on Tuesday 16 June.

Drugs worth an estimated R10 million were also confiscated after police swooped on a huge drug lab located on Terra Nostra Game Farm.

A tip-off from members of the community about the illegal activities assisted police to locate the drug lab. A massive manhunt ensued to arrest the suspects.

Drug manufacturing equipment, chemicals, four firearms and ammunition were recovered by the police during the raid. An initial probe suggested that the farm was bought by a suspect of foreign origin who paid millions of rand in cash.

Acting provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo major general Jan Scheepers said: “This drug lab has the capacity to supply the entire country with illegal drugs. The police actions from Dennilton and Marblehall made a massive leap by arresting the suspects.”

The two suspects are due to appear before the Marblehall Magistrates’ Court.
