Arrested for possession of a pangolin Tip-off leads to the arrest of four suspects

Northam – The South African Police Service in Northam arrested four suspects aged 19 to 40 on Tuesday 20 October for the possession of a male pangolin weighing 15.4kg.
Police spokesperson colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said that police received valuable information from members of the community about the suspects who were driving in a white Nissan Almera, trying to flog a pangolin – and reacted swiftly. In the process, the suspects’ vehicle was spotted, pulled off the road and searched. The pangolin was found hidden in the car. The occupants were apprehended on the spot and the pangolin was confiscated.
