Police recover hijacked courier van

Northam – A courier van transporting cellphones, was travelling from Rustenburg to Northam when it was hijacked by armed robbers on Monday 18 January.

According to police spokesperson Titus Khumalo, the suspects shot at the driver forcing him to pull over before hijacking the vehicle. Once police were alerted, a chase ensued and police managed to catch up with the vehicle in Northam. One of the three suspects was arrested, while two managed to escape. The suspect appeared before the Thabazimbi Magistrates’ Court, and the bail hearing was postponed to 26 February.
