Double take for HPG and Matlabas Plaaswag

Thabazimbi – Heritage Protection Group (HPG) and Matlabas Plaaswag were called out to two crime scenes on Sunday 28 February.

In the first incident, they were alerted about a suspicious vehicle that is alleged to have been involved in an armed robbery in Rooibokkraal. The vehicle was spotted at the Thabazimbi, Brits and Northam intersections and a high-speed chase ensued. PPS security, HPG Beestekraal, KGBG sector 6 in cooperation with Assen police pulled the vehicle over to conduct a search. Firearms, electronic equipment, and clothing stolen were recovered. Five suspects were arrested, and after further investigation Matlabas Plaaswag arrested two more farm workers in collaboration with Cumberland police.

 
The crime fighters then attended to another scene in the Mokoppa area where farm workers were tied up and assaulted. It is alleged that the suspects climbed over a security fence to gain access to the property. They gained access to the house’s main bedroom through burglar bars. It was determined that the safe had been shot open with powerful explosives. Most of the windows, the corridor, as well as the ceiling was shot out. The safe contained only a few jewels. As far as can be ascertained, two televisions, an electric grinder and a welding machine are missing. HPG followed the tracks of the intruders to a point where it looks like they were picked up. Investigations into the two cases continue.
