Unborn baby discovered at dumpsite

Northam – Northam Police are investigating a case of concealment of birth following the discovery of a foetus at the Smashblock dumpsite, just outside Northam on Monday 19 July.

The foetus missing an arm and a leg, was found by passers-by, who sounded the alarm to the Smashblock ward councillor, who immediately informed the Northam Community Service Centre.  
The foetus was transported to the Bela-Bela Forensic Pathology department where preliminary results indicated that the mother was about five months pregnant.

No arrests have been made yet and the police are appealing to anyone with information about this incident, to please contact the investigating officer sergeant Makadikwa on 081 245 7238, detective commander captain Du Plessis on 082 565 7611 or to report it anonymously on the MySAPS app.
