Suspect on most wanted list arrested 

Brits – The long arm of the law finally caught up with a man who was on the police’s top 50 list of most wanted suspects in the North West province. 

Chris Sithole – who also used the alias Leon Nkomo – was arrested on Tuesday 13 September on the Musina border in Limpopo. He was then transported to Brits to face seven separate cases of rape, three of robbery as well as one of housebreaking and theft.  

Sithole appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14 September 2022 and was remanded in police custody. He will make a second court appearance on Friday 7 October.

Police spokesperson brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone confirmed that Sithole committed these crimes from January 2012 to February 2021, in and around the Brits area.  

“In one of the cases, the accused allegedly raped a woman in May 2012. A couple was travelling along the N4 close to Bokfontein, near Brits.

Bricks were placed on the road, but as the driver tried to avoid it, the car overturned. Three men helped them out of the car wreckage, and then took turns to rape the woman,” Mokgwabone added.
