ALLEGED CHILD ABUSER’S CASE POSTPONED

Thabazimbi – The case of a man who stands accused of two separate charges of sexual assault was postponed by the Thabazimbi Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 14 February 2023.

Thabazimbi community members gathered at the court in a show of support against the accused.  
He was initially arrested with two other suspects on 26 January 2023 after it came to light that a child was sexually assaulted and that two children were brutally assaulted with a cricket bat.

The man was granted bail of R2,000 on 8 February 2023 on the first charge but remained in custody when an additional charge of sexual assault came to light and was filed against him. The other two suspects were released on bail of R1,000 each on the 8th of February.

The accused man’s next court appearance will take place on 16 February 2023 for a formal bail application.
