Alleged child molester remains behind bars

Thabazimbi – A man who stands accused of two separate charges of sexual assault made another appearance before the Thabazimbi Magistrates’ Court on 22 February 2023. This came after his previous bail application on Thursday 16 February 2023 was postponed.

During the latest court appearance, the matter was once again postponed until 6  March 2023.
The accused was initially arrested with two other suspects on 26 January 2023 after it came to light that a child was sexually assaulted and that two children were brutally assaulted with a cricket bat.

The man was granted bail of R2,000 on 8 February 2023 on the first charge, but was remained in custody when an additional charge of sexual assault was filed against him.

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance to find out if he will be granted bail on the second charge.
