Kloppers case develops

Northam – Freek Kloppers (30) tragically lost his life on the evening of Tuesday 6 June. At the time of going to print on 16 June 2023, the tragedy was suspected to be due to a hunting accident on a farm near Northam.

The victim’s wife, Megen Kloppers (25) was arrested for culpable homicide, and for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. “Megen Kloppers appeared before the Northam Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8 June, where her case was remanded to 14 June,” said Limpopo provincial commander of SAPS media relations colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Limpopo spokesperson Mashudu Malabi Dzhangi confirmed on 20 June 2023 that Megen Klopper’s case has changed from culpable homicide to murder.

“Freek will be missed,” said Freek’s cousin Barnard Kloppers, “I would have loved for another opportunity to hunt with him on the farm.” Freek’s funeral service took place on 21 June at 10:00 at the Dalunie Church in Rashoop, Brits.
