... Ons voel later deur die dag die min slaap aan ons lywe en gaan slaap vroeg. Nuwejaarsdag voel ons steeds nie onsself nie, maar skryf dit toe aan die afgelope paar weke se min slaap. Saterdag en Sondag is ons steeds effens lusteloos en moeg. Johan slaap ongewoon baie; ek is half verbaas daaroor, maar dit reën en hy het die afgelope tyd baie hard gewerk. Ons het net een arbeider en hy is al van die 11de Desember af op verlof, so Johan doen al die werk op die plaas self, ek help waar ek kan.
